US Student Visa Requirements without IELTS
Aspirants applying for a US student visa must meet the following requirements if they wish to submit their proof of language proficiency through any one of the alternate methods apart from IELTS:
- You need a letter from the school or college stating that you can apply for student visa even if your IELTS results are yet to be confirmed.
- A letter of acceptance into a particular course.
- The Secure English Language Test (SELT) can replace the IELTS to test your proficiency in English. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires this language test for those wishing to work in the UK.
- You must show that you have an English grade from high school or grades 11 and 12 which is at least 70%. Alternatively, you may send in a copy from any brief English class you took before.
- You need to prove that all your previous education was conducted using English. For this purpose, papers from university/college will serve well.
- Provide your educational background documents showing that all your previous schooling was in English. Utilise documents from your school or other organisation to verify this.
- In some universities, you may be asked to attend an online interview just so that they can assess your ability to speak and write fluently in English. The university will also interrogate you so that it can gauge if you know how to talk and write well in English.
There are ample opportunities for international students to study in USA without IELTS. A lot of colleges in the US will accept scores of alternative language proficiency exams like TOEFL, Duolingo, and Cambridge English exams.
