AECC Student Services FAQs
Everything you need to know about our free services and how the study abroad process works, from your first consultation to your visa.
We support you through every stage of studying abroad: career and course counselling, university shortlisting, application support, scholarship guidance, visa documentation, accommodation assistance and pre-departure briefings. All of these services are free, whether you visit our Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City office or speak to us by phone.
You can apply on your own, but a good consultant saves you time and helps you avoid costly mistakes, like choosing the wrong course or submitting an incomplete visa file. Our counsellors know the requirements of 1,100+ institution partners and can point you to options you might not have found yourself.
Full scholarships are highly competitive, so start early. Fully funded government programmes such as Chevening in the UK and Australia Awards usually look for strong academic results, leadership experience and a clear plan for your future. Your counsellor will help you find the scholarships you're eligible for and plan your applications well ahead of the deadlines.
The main challenges are cost, distance from family and adjusting to a new culture and style of learning. Being well prepared helps with all three. We help you budget realistically, choose a destination that suits you and understand what to expect before you leave, so the transition feels much smoother.
You'll usually need a valid passport, your academic transcripts and certificates, English test results and a personal statement. Some courses also ask for a CV or recommendation letters. For your student visa, you'll need proof of funds as well. We'll give you a checklist tailored to each university and destination.
Most universities require an English test score, and IELTS is the most widely accepted. Many also accept PTE or TOEFL. The score you need depends on your course and university, and some institutions accept alternatives. We'll tell you exactly what's required and when to book your test.
From your first consultation to visa approval, it usually takes several months. Applications, offers, English tests and visa processing all take time, so we recommend starting around a year before your intended intake. Starting early also gives you more scholarship options.
Absolutely. Studying abroad is a family decision, and parents are welcome at every consultation. We explain costs, timelines and next steps clearly, so your family can feel confident about your plans and help with key decisions like budgeting and choosing a destination.
Yes. If you can't make it to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, book a free consultation call and speak to a certified counsellor from wherever you are in Vietnam. You'll get the same personalised advice as an in-person session.
